All in the name of fun

I just wanted to share our day with you. Chris has wanted to take Eli camping again for awhile now and had planned to do it tonight. He decided on Payson Lakes because, well, I don't know why but that is where he wanted to go. So I decided that Isaac and I would join them for the day playing at the lake and then we would come home and sleep at home. So, this morning we spend about an hour getting stuff and kids ready to go. Then we stop at Wal Mart so Chris can get some breakfast items and also to get some oars for a little blow-up raft that he purchased a few days ago. They didn't have any oars so we went to another store in Payson which also didn't have any. So, Chris went up the canyon with the boys and I drove out to Santaquin to borrow his sisters oars. Chris called me from the campground and told me that it was totally full (which I had expected since it's a holiday weekend, but he didn't believe me.) So we spend some time driving to another campground a few miles away which is also full. Then Chris found a spot off of the road that already had a fire pit and you could tell it was an unofficial camp site. But Eli didn't want to camp there because the grass was long and there were too many bugs. Granted, he did only have flip-flops. I meant to get some other shoes for him but forgot.

So we put the tent back in the car and went over to the lakes. We pulled into the lakes in two cars and ended up having to pay $5 per car. Then we get to the lake, let the kids play while Chris blows up the raft. And by play I mean listen to Eli complain about the water being cold and try to keep Isaac in the shallow water. Then we all get in the raft and Isaac cries the whole time. Eli is complaining about something the whole time. We ended up putting Isaac back in the water and Chris held onto his life jacket but it didn't help, he still cried. We were out in the boat for about 20 minutes and figured it wasn't worth it. I was going to bring Isaac home so Chris and Eli could stay and have fun but then Eli was complaining too much so we all left and came home.

We set out for a day of fun and all that really happened was us wasting gas money driving two cars all the way up there, spending $30 at Wal Mart that wouldn't have been spent regularly and dealing with two ornery kids the whole time. The one good thing is that Eli fell asleep on the way home and it looks like he will sleep all night. Although with our luck today he will wake up about 9 and be all rested and not go back to sleep.

Summer Fun

Here are a few pictures from last week. We spent the morning at the park. It was actually overcast and very nice. The boys both like the swings as you can see. They pretty much like everything about the park. It worries me a little because Isaac has no fear of heights. I have to watch him close.

Later that day we had Popsicles in the back yard. I am trying to give them more summery experiences. Seems like a day at the park followed by Popsicles is pretty summery to me.

Just a few pictures to show what life is like for us these days.

Chris and I came home from a night out last week and this is how we found Isaac sleeping. He LOVES shoes, especially these red crocs. He is pretty much always wearing shoes. He puts them on first thing in the morning and as soon as he gets out of the bath, etc. I wasn't surprised to see him with them on in bed.

And this is Eli's new favorite past time. Yes, he is peeing in the front yard. Ever since we went camping he thinks it is a lot more fun to pee outside than in the toilet. So, this is where I have found him a few times. Of course he can't go in the back yard, no, it has to be right in front where all the neighbors and passersby can clearly see him.

The boys with my sister Emilee at the Provo Parade on the 4th of July. We had a lot of fun.

Lake Powell

Here are some pictures from our trip to Lake Powell. It was a lot of fun. Hot, but fun. Isaac loved getting thrown like this. Chris and I did it for awhile and he still didn't want to stop.

Eli loved the boat.

But not as much as he loved the tube. He couldn't get enough of it and actually told Chris that he wanted more bumps. He is riding with his cousin Jairus here.

6 Years

Today is our 6th Anniversary. In some ways I can't believe that we have been married for 6 years and in other ways it feels like Chris has always been a part of my life. I am very grateful for him. He is a wonderful husband and father. He makes me laugh daily and is always trying to improve himself and our family. Thank you Babe for being such a perfect match for me. I love you. Us last year.

This is actually only the 2nd anniversary that we have spent together. We were together for our first one and all of them since then Chris has been away with the Army for one reason or another. (There was one year that he was here but we were camping with his family so that doesn't really count.) We are going up the Sundance to hear the Utah Symphony's Patriotic Concert as well as going out to dinner and maybe a bit of shopping. I'm just glad to have him home.
